Assignment: Predict the 24 hr maximum temperature (deg F) for Houston-Intercontinental, TX (KIAH)

With a strong cold front sweeping southward across Texas on Thursday, the high temperature forecast for Houston may be a little difficult. Here's part of what the NWS forecast discussion says: "Temperatures for Thursday will start out quite warm, with morning lows only 5-10 degrees below the normal high. This should help the entire area see high temperatures near or above normal, even though the front is expected to enter the area from the northwest and reach College Station around mid-day. It should take into the early or mid-afternoon for the front to reach the coast, allowing for southwest winds to get temperatures near the coast as high as the low 70s before this front sweeps through and chops temps down. As you might expect, precisely how high temps get are going to be very dependent on the exact timing." So let's forecast Tmax for Houston and see what happens.
